Detail descriptions
12 volt Air extracting fan w/ 110v adapter jack (adapter available to purchase) & closable lid to prevent odor escaping from "solid" compartment. Door is operable when sitting. A odor-trap is built into the urine canister to seal off unwanted gas.
Easy disposal
All you need is to lift up the toilet seat to access the urine canister. Urine canister is custom designed to fit into a typical toilet seat profile.
The solid waste liner is secured and sealed to the lid. To replace the liner, lift up the wood top and remove the liner from the lid. It only takes 30s.
Designed to have minimum maintenance.
Rinse the urinal bowl only. No need to clean the "solid" compartment.
Comfort
It fits both typical round and elongated toilet seats.
Wide opening
Elongated seat allows ample room for “business”. No need to “aim”. As a matter of fact, it may be the widest you can get.
Large capacity
1.9 gallons liquid canister is one of the largest on the market.
I am a full-time nomad of 6 years traveling in a Chevy Express conversion. I was unhappy with my previous 5 gallon camping toilet. I was in desperate need of change and then I found the DBY. It was love at first sight, I knew purchasing this kit would solve my DIY needs. The toilet design is simple, yet functional. The overall assembly was quick - it took 5 minutes to install the toilet seat to the lid and about two hours to complete the entire box. I ended up purchasing a plastic Kohler toilet seat to keep things light weight. The foam pieces to prop up the lid were a nice touch! I haven’t experienced any major issues with odor from solid waste, but the urine seal inlet worked too well and liquids did not go down smoothly. Life was messy until I put a small stick inside to help liquids flow into the urine canister. Four months later everything is operating smoothly. Cleaning the toilet is easy - I clean it everyday for best hygiene practices in our tiny living space. Disposing of both liquid and solid waste is simple and hassle-free. I am beyond thrilled with this purchase and would buy another for any future builds!
Thank you for the quality parts and fast shipping.
A great find. It is not all quite together, but almost. Waiting for help to pull old toilet and install. I found wood, finally, real 8" wide boards.
Seller was fast to mail out order. Quality was very good, real wood top and great for 3D printed parts. I paid about 138 bucks for shipping as I am in Canada, but dealt with it as top brand composting toilets are way more expensive than this at 200ish dollars. That total would be about 338 bucks without the fan and hose (my choice). Being in Canada, UPS would no longer deliver the product until the TARRIFF was paid , an additional 118 bucks. I had to pay online and it was re-sent the next day. All in all came to over 450 and I still have to buy parts obviously as it is diy. For an additional 150 to 200 in my own country I could have bought a new and completed composting toilet from Amazon. This is not the sellers fault. Shipping was high but the tarrif is what screwed me over. Will not shop USA again.
Had an issue due to rough handling in transit; the seller provided prompt and thorough troubleshooting support.
Kit included dimensions for box, which was easy to knock together. You do want to ensure everything is situated properly relative to the diverter.
Have been using a couple weeks and you'd never know we don't have a "normal" toilet!
Minor grievances in build quality here. The wood top had some deep scratches in it that had to be sanded out with coarse grit. The urine canister sustained a drop (empty) from about 36” and cracked easily. The material seems more prone to shatter vs a quality HDPE or ABS.
